2-26-12

Our basenji meet-up was today.  Was not as warm as it was this past Wednesday (when we had our photo shoot), but we had blue skies, and it wasn't too bad, except when it was time to leave, then the wind had started to kick up, and we all got cold.

Dannii for some reason has pulled his "I'm not eating" routine on me the last couple of days.  No matter what I put down for him, he won't eat.  He'll go and sniff it out, and if its not to his liking, he walks away.  This morning, the same thing.  I fried up two eggs (was going to scrambled them), I flipped them over, and then cut them up, and put them in his bowl.  He walked away.  I picked up said bowl, and went to Dannii (who was in his chair by now), to see if he would eat the eggs if I hand fed him.  Yep, that's what did the trick.  Hand feeding!  I don't think so.  I just don't have the time, especially on days that I have to go to work.  But, at least he ate the eggs before we had to leave the house.

Greg is giving the dogs some water.  Him and Nancy have a dog, Angus, that has fanconi.  He drinks alot of water!  Of course, Dannii is front and center looking for treats!

Niles, is a great dane, and when he see's me, he knows I have treats, so he makes a beeline for me every time.

Dannii is checking out Greg's backpack, looking for treats.  Do you think he will find any?

Over all, it was a good day, and Dannii looked a 100% better than he did last month, at the meet-up.  For how much longer, I have no idea.  For the last two months, I had been saying that this would probably be his last meet-up.  I didn't say that this time, because I have no idea.  We are just taking it one day at a time.

I have prayed to the good LORD to let Dannii make it to his 13th birthday, which is in December, but I don't know what plans He has for Dannii.  I have also prayed that if he does take Dannii home, to please, and I do mean, please, let Dannii go in his sleep.  I just don't want to have to make that decision.

I fixed spaghetti tonight for dinner. So I gave some to Dannii with a bit of spaghetti sauce, but he didn't eat all of it.  He should be really hungry, just having a couple of eggs for breakfast..........but, I forgot about all those treats he got at the dog park!  Still I don't believe it was enough to fill him up to the point where he wouldn't eat.  I even bought a small bag of "Chef Michaels" dog food, and I know he loves that...........at least he used to, wouldn't eat it.  I got some stew meat and am cooking it in the crock pot with one sweet potato, a rutabaga, some carrots, broccoli, brussels sprouts, and green beans.  I hope this turns out better than the one with the chicken livers, because all 3 dogs didn't like that one at all.  That had spinach in it, so I don't know.

Dannii just finished up the rest of the spaghetti that was in his bowl.  So, I guess he was finally hungry enough to eat the rest of it, which wasn't all that much anyways.

Well, that's all for today, hope you all come back again.  Now hear?

2-24-12

I am off today, had one student, and the office ended up moving her to tomorrow.  So, was able to get the lawn mowed, and got Dannii outside.  Also cooked something in a crock pot for Dannii, and right now, he turned up his nose at it.  It has chicken livers, one chicken breast, one potato, a few carrots and some celery, beets and green beans, and spinach.  I added the spinach the last half hour or so, and same for the green beans and beets.  The whole thing cooked for about 5-6 hours, except for the last few ingredients.  The gal who told me about making this, said she just adds a spoonful to her dog's kibble.  So, we will see.  Dannii has hardly eatin' all day.  Nothing I gave him this morning, would he eat.  I did finally scramble an egg for him, and he did eat that.  He drank just a tiny bit of DogSure.  About two hours ago, he ate about 3 fish sticks.  He hasn't been this bad about eating in a long time!  Have no idea what's going on.

I don't have a big backyard, it's more long, than it is wide.  But, not having someone to mow the lawn for me, it takes me awhile.  I have to do it in two or 3's.  Just can't mow the whole thing at once, especially when the grass gets this long!  Here Zak is checking out the lawnmower.

Lawn is done and can't find the string for the weed-eater!  So, edging is going to have to wait for awhile.

This is one of the videos that I took today of Dannii, while he was outside.  There was one I would have liked to have uploaded to this blog, but it was way too big of a file, so had to settle for this one.

At dinner, I gave Dannii a 1/2 cup of Innova Evo Reduced kibble, and added a heaping spoonful of this stuff from the crock pot.  Since all the dogs got the samething, Dannii decided to eat.  He didn't finish all of it, but at least he ate most of it.  Later, I gave him about a half dozen fish sticks and he ate them.  He is getting his nausea pills and appetite stimulant pills, so I don't know why he is acting this way now.  The last few days he has been eating pretty good.

Sunday is our basenji meet-up, and I just want him up to par.  He looked really bad last month, and it hurt everyone to see him that way.  They truly thought his time was up, also.  He's been doing so well the last several weeks, I just pray that the good LORD will keep him this way for a while longer.

Dannii & I , 2-22-12

I haven't gotten all the photo's from M.C. yet, but this is one of several she emailed me.  I can't wait to see the rest.

Well, I am off to bed, have to start work early in the morning.  You all come back again, now hear?

2-22-12

What a beautiful day!  Hard to believe we are in the latter half of February.  Suppose to get up into the low 70's here.  Decided to take the b's to our favorite dog park.  A friend has so graciously offered to do a "photo shoot" of the b's and I.  I just hope I don't break her camera.  (If, I did M.C., I'm sorry).  I take terrible pictures, just don't know how to smile I guess.  Its going to be awhile before I get those pictures from her, so in the meantime, I took a few.

Zak and Jenna checking something out

From this picture, it looks like there is no one at the park.  Don't let the picture fool you.  There were alot of people and dogs there, today.  Amazing since it is a Wednesday.  Don't these people work?  I have an excuse, it was my day off!

Zak, who very seldom's stand still for pictures.

Beautiful San Francisco

Caught ya M.C!  Now, why can't I look that pretty in a photo?  Can't remember what the dog's name is that she's petting.

He looks so good, hard to believe he has cancer

Two tired puppies!  Hardly ever see Dannii and Zak in the same chair

Dannii did not eat very much at breakfast, so he was hungry when we got home.  But whatever I put down for him, he didn't want it.  Go figure.  I opened up a can of sardines in olive oil, and poured that into his bowl.  He a "some" of it, but not much, and walked away.  So I picked up the bowl and covered it.  Figuring he can have the rest at dinner.  Around 5pm I mixed in a half cup of Innova Evo Reduced (Zak is a whooping 33 pounds, so he's on a diet!), to the sardine, and surprisingly Dannii ate it all!.  Such a good boy!

Don't know how long the good LORD is going to let Dannii stay with me.  I do pray it will be for quite some time yet.  Would truly love to see Dannii reach his 13th birthday in December, but ............
We are taking it one day at a time.  Everyday that he is here with me, and that he is eating, and wanting to go outside and check things out, those a good days indeed.

M.C. I truly thank you from the bottom of my heart for today.  Like I said, I hope I didn't break your camera!  I am glad that it was a warm and beautiful day at the park.  I missed that you didn't bring the Bow's with you, but I understand.  Hopefuly this will not be the last time you get to see Dannii doing this well.

On one of the other lists that I am on, a gal gave me a dinner suggestion, which I am going to try out, as Dannii is now getting tired of the chicken thighs.  I have to keep changing things up for him, just to get him to eat.

Well, that's all for today.  You all come back again, now hear?

2-19-12 Continued

The weather was nice, but a tad windy.  Decided to get Dannii outside, while its still nice.

Comtemplating his next move.

Later in the day, in back field

Dannii spies Mocha

Mocha come's to say hello

I had let Zak outside along with Dannii, this time.  He usually will take off if he's with Dannii, but not this time.  Here Zak thinks he wants to play with Mocha, and Mocha is saying, "I don't think so."

Back over in the others neighbor's yard, checking out things.  Thank goodness the "yappers" were not outside.  Zak is in the back, with Dannii in the front.

Zak is on the hunt for something

One final romp before going back into the house.

Will try and keep this a bit more updated, but as I stated earlier (at least I think I did), there is not much change from day to day.  Will probably wait until I get the pictures now from our Wednesday "photo shoot".

You'all come back again, now hear?
