A beautiful day at the park

First off I have to tell ya, that mom is sick. I guess this is going around, as the office staff was telling her that a lot of the other instructors are sick too. This is just great, she's thinking. We thought that we were going to get stuck home again today, as mom really didn't want to go anywhere. She's got a sore throat and has been coughing. She thinks it might be the start of a cold, but is not sure. She's really tired and just wants to rest. Which is why we thought we were not going anywhere today.  But then her friend Dale (Baree's and Scout's mommy) called to see if she wanted to meet up at the park. Whatever plan's Dale had for today fell through, so she decided on going to the park. So, much to our surprise, mom said yes!

It turned out to be a beautiful day. Nice and warm, with just a hint of a breeze to keep the heat away. Wonderful. We met alot of different dogs today. We got to meet two different Jindo's, but mom didn't get any pictures of them. But there was a lady sitting at "our picnic table" that had a small white thing, which mom thought was really cute.

We were not impressed. But for some reason that I (Zak) can not even fathom, mom thought she was cute. If she thought she was so dog gone cute, then why did she forget this dog's name? Can you tell me that? I thought if you liked something enough, you were suppose to remember their names, right? Not my mom. Oh she can remember some of the dogs' names that we see from time to time. Like there is these brother's that I do have to admit are very nice, and mom does remember their name's with no problem.

This Parker (mostly black) and his brother Bodie (standing next to Dannii, and Scout (Tri) is standing in from of Bodie. When ever Parker and Bodie spy my mom at the park, they come looking for her, as she always gives them some of our treats. I don't mind. As I said they are nice dogs, but however Dannii does not like to share his treats with anyone, and that includes me and Jenna! So again, I ask you, how can you forget someone's name if you like them and think they are so cute? I would like to know the answer to that one, if someone has it.

Anyways, this is our picnic table. As you can see the owner to this dog that mom thinks is so cute, is sitting at our table, along with her "cute" dog. Mom thought this was a good picture of Scout, and Jenna, and tried not to get the lady who own's the "cute" dog in the picture. But since she couldn't see the digital picture too well, she caught part of the lady who own's the "cute' dog, who is between Scout and Jenna.

This is Scout's sister, and her name is Baree. My mom just got an email from Dale (Baree's and Scout's mom) and Baree is at the emergency vets. Baree was not acting right at the dog park today. Whenever she would jump or someone picked her up, she would yelp. Dale thought that maybe Baree might have pulled something, but I guess after they got home, Baree was in a lot more pain, so her mom took her to the emergency vets, as their vets are closed at night. We all hope that Baree is ok. Dale is suppose to let mom know what she finds out. Mom had a real cute picture of Baree and Scout in a chair that Dale sent, but now mom can't find that picture. She's sure that she saved it, but just can't find it. So mom is doing some praying for Baree and praying that everything is going to be ok with her. I know you can't tell from this picture of Baree, but she is a little brindle. We like her, but not Jenna. Mom has to put a muzzle on Jenna when we first get to the park, as Jenna will try and start a fight with Baree. But after a couple of minutes, mom can take the muzzle off, and then she is ok. Its funny because last week when we met up with Japhy and Star, Jenna didn't growl or snarl at Star, and Star is a brindle girl, like Baree. You go figure that one out.
This is mom's friend, Dale. Not a good picture of Dale, as we had some wind, but she was talking to another lady, Scout is right there, as you can see. Then it looks like me, then Baree with Jenna down on the bench. As usual, Dannii is off doing his own thing, though he's not too far away.

Mom has been trying to get a good picture of me, and I guess she finally got one! Look's like I might be squinting, but actually, the sun was in my eyes! I am one handsome dude, don't ya think? No food to be had today at that cafe, but I tried. Mom and Dale were enjoying just sitting in the sun, and talking. She should have gotten a picture of Dannii and Jenna laying down at her feet, they were enjoying the sun also, as I was, but I just preferred to be sitting on a bench is all.  When mom checked the time, she said that we had to go, as she had to stop by the office to drop off her paperwork. She said that its easier doing it this way, than having to get up early and drive 40 miles one way to drop it off. So we all jumped into my mom's car this time.  We're all in the car, but don't know if you can see everybody or not.

You can see Scout and Baree, but Jenna is probably sitting in the front, and of course there is Dannii, front and center (well, a little off center, hehehe, if you ask me), and I am right between Scout and Baree.

This one is taken at home. Dannii and I are looking for a way to escape the car, but mom has all of us on a "coupler" hooked to the leash, which is wrapped around the gear shift, so she could take this stupid picture. All those kitties are running around, and we want out so bad, but couldn't get loose.

Mom just got an email from Dale, and said Baree is ok. They think she pulled a muscle or something in her neck. So she's home and is on a muscle relaxant and aspirin for five days. Still not doing well, but will keep and eye on her, and keep us informed of her condition. We're just glad that she's ok, and pray still that this is all it is.

Well, we had a long busy day, of leaving all kinds of pee-mail for our friends at the park, smelling new pee-mail from other dogs, chasing a few dogs that were running, going to people to get our "petting" in. So its is off to bed. We hope you all have sweet dreams.

Mom had to wake us up from this nap, to go outside to pee and poo before we actually go to bed.

Good-night  zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

Saturday 9-19-09 Pt Isabel

We got to go to Pt Isabel today! Boy oh boy, did we have fun. We got to see our good friends Japhy and his sister Star. Japhy is red and white like us, but Star is a brindle, nice enough girl, we think even Jenna liked her as she didn't growl at her, like she does to Baree (who belongs to our other friend and we see every week-end almost).

This is Japhy on the left, a handsome dude if I do say so myself. His sister, Star a nice little brindle girl, but she's just as tough as a boy dog.

Mom tried to get a picture of all of us on the picnic table, but it didn't happen. Do you know how hard it is to get 7 basenji's to stand still in one spot? You guys try it sometimes. Its next to impossible. Mom did get a couple of us on the table though, but Japhy and Star jumped off before mom got the picture. The tri basenji in this photo, is our good friend, Scout. He's real nice mellow boy, until it come's to food. Then watch out cuz he turns into a grabby, me first kind of guy.

This one has Star in it. She's on the far right side, almost standing by herself. Japhy is a non stop kind of guy, he's constantly moving and is real hard to get him to stand still for one second, unless he's on a leash.

We met up with some kind a little white mop type of dog. Who happened to sit and let us all sniff her. As you can see, Dannii and I didn't care, and we are taking off, but Japhy, Jenna, and Scout is giving this white mop a very good sniff, indeed.

This dog park has a little cafe, so we can sit and get something to eat. Dannii is always trying to steal somebody's food, and mom usually has to put him on the leash. Can't tell you how many times she had to buy someone a hot dog that Dannii had stolen! Here Dannii and Scout and yep, even Japhy is begging for some treats.

Ok, so now we are getting ready to leave. This car belongs to Scout and Baree's mom. When she opened up the back, we all jumped in, except for Japhy and Star. They haven't been here in over a year, so they didn't know that they could do this. Mom thought this would be a great photo. If you look closely, you can see Baree sitting up against the back of the back seat. I have no idea what I am looking at, or what Dannii was looking at for that matter. Jenna always sits to have her picture taken, the priss.

Ok now, we are all in the car, only except Baree is sitting in the front seat, and you can just barely see the top of her head. We're checking out the wonderful smells in the car, for they must have had some food back here. Dannii is standing and looking off to his left at something, Star (on Dannii's right), Japhy (right in front), and I (next to Japhy) are checking out the wonderful smells. The priss, Jenna is letting everyone take her picture.

Ok now Star is getting into things and wants to check everything out. At this point we don't know where Baree is as we can't seem to find her. We know she never got out of the car though, so she must by laying down in the front seat. Dannii is checking out Star's butt for some reason, and I have no idea what Japhy (who's right in front is doing), nor do I know what the heck I am looking at, maybe another dog, ....food,.....I don't know. Course Jenna the priss is still loving having her picture taken.

Well. that's our trip to Pt Isabel today. Even though we get to go most Sundays, we don't get to see Japhy and Star that much. Mom is thinking of asking if she can take Japhy with us on Sundays now. She doesn't know if it will work out or not, but all she can do is ask, right?

Hope you enjoyed the pictures, until next time, you all come back now, ya hear?

The Bedroom Door

We had to get up early this morning as sonslave left for work. Jenna and I (Zak), usually sleep with him and Dannii sleep's with mom. So, Jenna goes and sits up against the bedroom door to mom's room.  She just sits there and then lays down, I start my whinning as I would like to go into the room, but the door is shut and Jenna seems like she's guarding it with her life.

Then guess what we hear?  Mom's cell phone goes off, so we heard her get up to answer it, but it must have gone to voicemail (what ever that is), as we didn't hear her talking.  Well then she open's the bedroom door and we rush in, as much as Dannii will allow us, as he's is rushing out.

It was very hot here yesterday and last night, so mom kept the front door opened, with the security screen door locked. We live in the country, so we don't have to worry about people breaking into the house. We have nothing anybody would want to steal anyways, unless its me or Jenna, or maybe Dannii. Its going to be warm again today, so mom goes and shuts the front door, and goes and lays back down on the bed. We all get to come in. Jenna crawls under the blanket all the way to the bottom on mom's left, then Dannii. I am on mom's right side and we are all under to covers. About 5 minutes later, we b's all hear something, and so we all rush out to the front room. I heard mom mumble something, but couldn't quite make it out.  The next thing we know, she shuts the bedroom door and non of us can get back in!  How rude is that?  We whinned, but she never got back up. Dannii even scratched on the door (this work sometimes), but still to no prevail, mom did not get up and open the door.  Dannii scratched a few more times, but still a no go. So Jenna, in her true form took up the sentry position in front of the door and if we got too close she would go off on us and start her snarking and growling, like we were invading her territory or something!  Give me a break here.  All I want to do is go get under the covers on the bed, but nobody and I mean nobody is opening that dang bedroom door!

Mom has to work today and momma cat moved the babies

We have a lot to be desired!  ha  that's the understatment of the year. Our week's are so boring as we just sleep and pee and poo and stare at the cats  through the window and pretend that we can jump at them and chomp on them.
Today was suppose to be mom's day off, not that it changes anything for us, cuz she very seldom takes us anywhere on a Wednesday. So, no big deal here. The reason she has to work today because this week-end we are going to the dog park (Pt Isabel) and meet up with some of our friends. Well, her friends and our basenji friends. Japhy and Star are suppose to show up, and we haven't seen them in over a year. Star was only a puppy when we saw her last. It's going to be great fun to see Japhy again. He's really Dannii's friend, as they met back in 2004. I didn't get to meet him till sometime in 2005, I think. He's younger than Dannii, but older than me. So we both like to run and play a lot, and I think Dannii got bent out of shape when we would do that. As he would start to growl at me, like trying to tell me that Japhy is HIS friend, and not mine! All I know is that when Japhy would try to intice Dannii into running and such, he would for just a short time, then quit. To Japhy that was no fun, to him, Dannii was a party pooper. All Dannii was saying was, "enough is enough, leave me alone".
This is a picture of Japhy taken the last time mom baby sat for him. She always thought that he was on the skinny side, but from what we have heard, he has put on some weight. Japhy would never stop for a minute, and mom was very surprised that he even stopped long enough for her to snap this photo of him!

This one is of Japhy and I wrestling, he's trying to bite my leg. this was so much fun.

This one here with all of us on the bed. Mom tried like forever to get Japhy to sit up, but he just wouldn't do it, no matter what. We were getting upset, or mad, (look at Dannii's face), so mom had to snap the picture quickly before we all took off.  So, its going to be great to see him and his sister Star again.

On another note, mom has been checking on the momma kitty and she moved all of her kittens yesterday. Mom has no idea where she moved them to. She wants to find them, so she has an idea where they are at, so she can try and tame them, instead of them becoming wild like their momma.

Well, that's all the news for today folks

No dog park, more news on the kitties, Dannii has a seizure

Mom thought she was going to have to work today, but it turned out that she got to stay home. But, we didn't get to go anywhere! She went out and took some stupid pictures of the kitties. Her son found one of the kitties off by itself yesterday when he got home from work. He held it for quite awhile as it was very cold, and then mom came home, and he told her that he heard it crying and found it and it was away from the other kitties and very cold. He said that it started to warm up and then he put it back with the other one's, but the momma cat was not there. Later she went out to check and the momma cat was back and feeding them. They don't know if there is only 4 white ones and 1 stripe one, or if there was 5 white ones, and 1 stripe. This morning mom went out to check on them, momma kittie was gone and so she counted the kitties, only 4 white, and 1 stripe.

Mom took these pictures this morning. Her son is holding the kitties. I tell you, I just want to chomp on them so bad! Why won't she let me do that?  I have to admit that they are kinda cute, but still I just want to chomp on them. Mom is kind of worried because the momma cat has been gone a long time. She doesn't think that she is usually gone this long.
Also, Dannii had a seizure this morning, about 5:30a.m. I guess he went just over 4 months without having one, and I know mom was very happy,. Now, she has to start counting all over again. I guess he peed the bed too, cuz she had to wash all of her bedding.
Its going to be a long week. I know we are "suppose" to go to the park this week-end, but she said that it might not happen AGAIN. We have been stuck home now for two weeks without getting to go anywhere! This is not fair. We should revolt or something. If I knew what revolt mean's I would do something about it. So, all we do is look out the door in the garage to watch the cats, and sleep. Does that sound like a whole lot of fun to you?
This is a picture of Dannii that mom took of him two nights ago. He's out like a log and was snoring. How come she doesn't take pictures of me or Jenna when we are sleeping?  It might be because as soon as I hear her, I am up and finding out what she is doing, maybe she's going to give us something to eat, or a snack or something. So, she can't sneak up on me like she can on Dannii.

We got new kitties!

We live in the country, so there is a whole bunch of feral cats running around. Feral cats are wild and mean. Mom has tried to tame a few of them, but it has never happened, until a few months ago. There is this siamese cat that had some kittens a few months ago, under our back porch. Mom's son had found them when they were about 4 weeks old. So they were both going out there and picking up the kittens. If I have to say, there were kind of cute, and I really wanted to chomp on them something bad, but I just couldn't get out the door. Our neighbor took 3 of the kittens into his home when they were weaned from their momma. The rest of the kittens are wild.

Now, we have a whole new batch of kitties, by the same momma cat. This cat is so wild that mom was really surprised that the momma cat didn't take off when she took her picture. Mom has put a bowl of food and water out for her. Since our back porch is ripped up, waiting to install a new one, this momma cat made her den under the old wood that is piled up off to one side. In her last litter, she only had 1 while kitten that looks like her. But with this litter mom said that there is at least 2 or 3 white ones. They are the prettiest she thinks.

When mom went to put fresh food and water out for her, the momma cat got a bit scared. But as you can see from this second photo, she just kind of relaxed as she knew mom was not going to hurt her. She put her hand up to the momma cat to let her sniff her fingers, and then she snapped this photo.

But I tell ya, Jenna and I (Zak) we really want to go chomp on those kitties!  I think Dannii does too, as he jumps up against the door when he see's the cats outside.

OOOOhhhhh, I need to tell you all, that a couple of years ago, all 3 of us got out of the backyard. Our neighbor at that time had some goats, and he tied a momma goat up along with one of her babies next to our backyard. That goat drove us crazy. She head-butted the fence, and we didn't find out till the next day that the goat broke the bottom part of the fence and we made good our escape! Nobody was home, mom and her son were both at work. We got out into the field and were chasing the goats. Jenna even managed to kill a baby goat, about the size of her. We don't know if it was the same one that was on the side of our backyard or not. Then we ran into the neighbors backyard, and he had chickens!!!  Whoooooooopppppppppeeeeeee.
We had fun chasing those chickens and Jenna, she killed at 12 of them!  I chased them, but I didn't kill any. Honest.  Then we saw the feral cats, and Jenna caught 2 different one's and killed them too.  Another neighbor saw us, and called my mom at work to tell her what was going on. She had her student driver, drive her home, and only Dannii was here. A friend of her son's, had caught Dannii and put him in the garage. She checked the fence, and put some wood up, so Dannii couldn't get back out. She then went in search for Jenna and I as we were nowhere around. She said that she stayed for an hour, but couldn't find us. Asked her friends to keep a look out for us, and to put us in the garage if she found us, and to call her. Well, she never got a phone call when she went back to work., So she was thinking the worst, that a farmer shot us or something. She had to work for an extra hour, just to make up for the hour she spent out here looking for us. When she did get home, as she was backing down the drive-way, she saw both Jenna and I in the neighbor's (the one who owned the chickens and goats) backyard. So when she parked the car, she saw me trying to eat one of those dead chickens. She called me and Jenna, and boy were we glad she was home! She was so mad at us. We tried to tell her it wasn't our fault. We do what we do, because its what we do....HUNT.
To tell you the truth, we have not been able to get out of the backyard since then.  That neighbor moved, so no more chickens or goats.  The neighbor we have now, has a dog (plus the 3 kitties that I told you about earlier). The dog's name is Shadow, and she is a pitt bull, and she just loves those kitties. She treats them like they are her very own!  We don't understand that. She's a nice enough dog, but maybe she is a cat in dog's clothing? How can she lick and clean those kitties, when all we want to do is chomp on them?

Well, that's all for today. Come back now, ya hear

9-9-09 Breakfast

Well, as you can see, I am waiting on Dannii AGAIN, so I can clean out his bowl. Don't mind the dirty floor, mom just forgot to sweep this morning (sometimes every morning!). Also don't mind the date in the lower right corner. Mom wanted to sneak up on me as I go to Dannii's food bowl, she had just charged the battery and didn't set the calander on the camera.  I didn't know she actually caught
me at his food bowl. What's that look on Dannii's face?  Maybe he
know's that I am not going to find anything left in his bowl, huh?

I live for food. That's my job, to find food, any kind of food. I don't like to share, but believe the other b's in this household share with me! That's just the way it is folks.

Mom brought home a new bag of dog food as we were getting kind of low. She also brought in a couple of can's of something. I hope that it is also dog food.

I am already thinking about supper and its not even time yet. I just hope it some good stuff cuz I can eat and eat and eat. If mom let me, I could really become fat.........BUT I'm not,  yet. Don't intend to either cuz mom says that puts a strain on the heart and the extra weight can cause other health problems as well. I told mom that she should loose some weight, she's not fat, but what she would call pleasenly plump. That's fat, folks, no two way about it, fat is fat, is fat.

I heard a secret that we get to go to the dog park this week-end! Yeaaaaaaaaaa.

Hide and Seek. Golly jewhiz, what fun, yeah right

Well, all's I got to say is.................huh?  As I stated earlier, mom mowed the backyard. Then we thought we were going to get to go to the dog park.  No such luck. We stayed home.
But mom went out into the back yard and she had the camera with her. I'm always ready for a close up. Her son was calling Jenna to come outside, so Dannii and I, ran back inside.  When we came outside, no mom. She sure as heck didn't come back in the house and the car is still here. So, we run's through the house looking for her. No mom. How can that be? So, we race back outside. No place to hide in the yard, except for one lonely tree, and yep, ya guessed it. She was hiding behind the tree. I saw her right off the bat, then Jenna, then Dannii.  He wasn't really looking for her though. I wanted to make sure she didn't leave the house without us!
She tried to upload the video to put into this space, but alas we are on what she call's "snail mail" (dial-up) and it wouldn't work. That's ok, we had fun. If only for a short time. These are the pictures she took of  Dannii and Jenna and I today.

She did some kind of fancy trim work on the pictures, except for Jenna's.  Look's like she just trimmed the corners.  These were all taken today, after our short burst of hide and seek.  Geezzz
For some reason, Dannii never look's at the camera. Its like he's shy or something. But I've seen plenty of photo's of him where he's looking at the camera, but not today.
I am such a handsome dude, don't ya think? Dannii used to be good looking too, but he's getting to be an old dog.  I hear mom saying that he's still a handsome boy. She call's me handsome too, as well, as she should. But, I am dubbed the troublemaker because I like to chew things.
Hope ya all had a much better day than we did.  How can life be this boring? Can someone please tell me?

Sunday and no dog park :(

It is Sunday morning. We all 3 thought we were really going to go to the dog park after breakfast. We all waited nicely for our breakfast. Dannii eats the slowest, so he gets fed first, then Jenna and then me. I eat the fastest, and then I will try and eat out of Jenna's bowl with her, she don't mind sharing. Then I go over to Dannii and he starts growling at me to get away. Mom watches and makes sure I don't get to close to Dannii while he is eating cuz he will start a fight. Mom needs to figure out that system a little differently. I am always done before everybody. I like to eat, so what can I say. I will eat what's in my bowl, and what's in Jenna's and even what is in Dannii's bowl (if he would let me).  So when everybody is done eating, I will go and lick clean Jenna's bowl, while she is doing the samething to my bowl. She doesn't know that I already licked my bowl clean! Then we both line up and wait for Dannii to finish eating. He gets pills mixed in his food. Mom uses a pill crusher and crushes up the pills (he only get a vitamin b-50 and half a tablet of magnesium, and then some brewers yeast), Jenna and I both get the brewers yeast also, also crushed up and mixed into our food. We get canned sweet potatoes (sometimes) or canned pumpkin with the pills mixed in and then mixed with the kibble. My mom buy expensive dog food at a feed store because she says the other pet stores around here don't carry what we eat. We get the Innova Eavo Reduced. She had us on that last yeat cuz I needed to loose some weight. Mom said I weighed 33 pounds. I remember her calling me her "fatboy" and roley-poley and such. I lost the weight, so then she started buy the chicken and once in awhile the red meat one. But we started putting the weight back on. I AM NOT FAT!!!  She just doesn't want me to get any heavier than what I already am,
Anyways, back to the dog park thing. After breakfast, we waited for her to go put her make-up on. But, she didn't do that this morning. She went out into the back yard and unhooked the hose, and got the lawn mower out and started mowing the back yard!  What the heck is this??  When she came in the house we sat and looked at her and then at our leashes and back to her, but nope, we're not going to the dog park. Says she wants to stay home today. Since she in the car the just about everyday of the week, she just wants to stay home today, tired of driving. She could let me drive, I could get us to the dog park, but its still a no go.  This is NOT fair.  Its a nice day, not too hot and not too windy. But she won't budge. I ask you, what are we to do???  We are stuck home all week, and look forward to going to the dog park, but not today.  I feel like I could just sit down and cry, if I knew how to cry.  This is so unfair.

A stinkin boring week folks

Well, what is a basenji suppose to do when their people go off to work? Do we get to play? Who in the heck plays anymore? Chew toys? Our toys are so old.......older than dirt itself, well, almost. Get to chase the cat? Ha, not on this planet. The cat is too darn smart to try to come into the house when our people are not home.  So, we sleep, go out to the backyard and do our duty, back in the house to rummage around to see if I (Zak) can find anything to eat. Nothing.  Mom is trying to starve us AGAIN.  She thinks I am starting to get fat. I am not fat!!  Read my lips people, I AM NOT FAT.  I am big boned, and weigh 28 pounds. Considering last year, I weighed in at 33 pounds, I am no where near that anymore. Pretty soon, I am going to be skin and bones. I don't get no food. Ok, I get fed twice a day, but its not enough, I tell you!   Jenna weigh's 25 pounds, and Dannii weighs 26 pounds. So I weigh the most, but I said, I am big boned.  Now I ask you, "do
I look fat"?  If you say yes, don't bother to tell me, you're NO friend of mine!  I'm a cute devil huh?  You should see my baby picture....well, not baby, baby. I am about 4 months old.

This was taken with a crappy camera, so what can I tell ya!  Cute, huh?

My mom says I came from a backyard breeder in Vacaville, California.  That he sold me to a man that had 2 sons. I vaguely remember
the boys. They were allot of fun to play with. I can remember them putting me into this cell, and I couldn't get out, and they were gone all day. I remember something about school, so that must be where they were. They would let me out and play with me and take me for a walk. But it didn't last very long. I remember being locked away in that cell for a very long time everyday, even when the kids got home from this school thing. I would cry and whimper, but they just yelled at me to be quiet. It hurt my feelings so bad. I was so alone, and nobody wanted me anymore. My mommy didn't want me, but my mom (human)says' that's because her owner wouldn't let her keep any of her puppies, because he wanted the money.  I can also remember that the kids dad would let me out of my cell when he got home from his work. But he wouldn't let me up on the sofa to be with my people. They all kept pushing me down to the floor. I kept trying and trying, but they just would not give in. The next thing I knew, I was back in my cell, and in a car going somewhere with a strange lady (who is now my human mom). Turns out the dad called my human mom to come and get me (they had met through his older son when he was taking his driving lessons). So, I get to this strange place with all kinds of good smells. I smelled things that I had no idea what they were. Mom told me that we live in what is called "the country" and that's why there is so many different smells. She let me in the house, and more wonderful smells, but wait, what the heck is this I smell?  Dogs, more than one, and something else. Not sure what. That turned out to be what is called cats. Mom tried to let the other dogs in the house one at a time, but they charged the door, and both of the dogs came running up to meet me. My own welcoming committee!  A male, name Dannii, and his niece named, Jenna.  We were like one BIG happy family. Oh, hooray hooray. I found my forever home.  But I came very close to loosing it.  It seem's mom has a human son living at home right now and he was somewhere in his mid to late 20's came I came to live with them. It seem's he had a very nice pair of very expensive jeans, and yep, if you read the earlier blogs, I chewed out the whole butt, and nothing but the butt! I truly thought he was going to do great bodily damage to my poor body. I really did. He didn't hurt me, but I know he would have liked too.  But guess what?  I got him trained right nicely if I do say so myself.  He doesn't leave his clothes out for me to chew up anymore. So, I am not sure if that is a good thing or not.

I found out that were are not going to go to the dog park tomorrow (Sunday). We always go on Sunday as its mom(slave's) day off.  It seem's Scout (a basenji friend of ours) had an abcess tooth, and his slave took him to the dentist (vet) yesterday. He still doesn't feel to good, and his slave wants him to rest. So like I said, its been a stinkin boring week, and this is going to top it off for this new week!  Dang gummit.
Signing off for now. Come back now ya hear?

Dannii Houdini 9-1-09

This is Dannii folks. This is the first time I was able to get to the computer before Zak. Zak likes to do all the writing and its mostly about himself. I just wanted to let you know that I have had what momslave call's "seizures".  I don't know what they are, and I don't know when I have them, but momslave gets scared and nervous when I do have them. She said it all started last October when she took me and Jenna and Zak into the vets to get our vaccinations. She only wanted us to get the DHPP (whatever that is), she said its the distemper and parvo shots. Then a month or so later, we were going to get the rabies shot. Well, we ended up getting the rabies along with the dhpp, and guess what? Early the next morning is when I had my first seizure!  Momslave was pee-od big time!  She said it was all her fault. I was 8 years old when that happened. Tomorrow the 2nd of September, I will have gone 4 months with NO seizures. Momslave is very happy over that, and hopes this trend continues. I am on No medication, except she give me a vitamin b-50, half of a 250mg tablet of magnesium. That's all. Since I don't like taking pills in any way shape or form, she has to crush them up and mix them into either canned sweet potatoes, or pumpkin. We go back and forth between those two, she also mixes in some frozen green peas that has been cooked before hand.
I will be 10 years old this December. I don't think I look my age. Do you? If you do, please keep your comments to yourself, as I don't need any negative feed-back, ok?
I came from a kennel down in Pleasanton, California. I was sold as a puppy to an older couple, and they couldn't handle me. The deal was that if that happened, they could bring me back to my momma, and so they did.  My dam's name is CH Zuri's MATUKO,  FCH JC, and my sire's name is CH PENDA TAJI'S TRIUMPHANT ONE.  After I was back home for a short while, this nice lady and a black and while female basenji, came to visit me. The black and white female's name is MzLilli (she has since crossed over the rainbow bridge). MzLilli was not very nice that first time. But they took me home anyways. They had a couple of cats, that I had to check out, and since Lilli didn't seem to mind the cats, neither did I.

That's MzLilli laying on her side in back of me. Since MzLilli had crossed over, my neice was also returned to her momma, and the breeder got in contact with my momslave to see if Jenna and I would get along, since I am her uncle. So we went down to check her out. I was more interested in all the smells in the backyard, than I was of Jenna. Momslave sat down, and Jenna came up to her and would not leave her side. I'm thinking what is this? Who is this basenji that is sitting too close to my momslave? So that's when I went to check her out. I figured she ok, and went back to check ing out the smell's. Lots of yummy and interesting smells in that backyard. I didn't want to leave. I would have liked to stay there, but momslave said that we had to leave, and guess what? Jenna was in the car with us! It was like it was with MzLilli and me, only now its me and we're bringing home Jenna.  Which was ok. She is nice. sometimes.
My momsalve tried me in the show ring, since I was still intact, which mean's I could mate with a female and hope to produce some puppies. I came in first place in my division, but ya know what? I just wasn't interested in standing on a table and have a judge look into my mouth and run their hands all along my body. Just didn't feel right for a stranger to be doing this to me! Then momslave tried me at what is called lure coursing. First time out, I did great! I had fun chasing that stupid bag all around the field. The second time, I was waaaay to smart to chase the bag. So I jumped all those wires and waited for the bag to come to me! Why should I chase that darn thing, when I can just wait and let the bag come to me? I then ripped the bag off the wire and I just ran through the field with it!!  Everybody was yelling at my momsalve to "get me off the field", but I wouldn't come to her, or anybody else. I was having too much. But, in the end, somebody did catch me, and I was put into my crate. Just spoiled all the fun for me. I sulked for the rest of the day. How dare anybody put me in a crate! I was just having fun for crying out loud. What's the harm in that? Well, to say the least, that was the end of my show career as momslave would say. The following week-end we went to the dog park in Benicia (not Pt Isabel), and I snarked and growled at every dog there, which I knew, but I was just in a bad mood. Guess what happened then? The following week, momslave took me to the vets to get me ah-hum, neutered. Oh for the shame of it all. I didn't growl at anymore dogs at the dog park after that. But as much as I hate to say it, I growl at "some" dogs now at the dog park. Not all of them, mind you. Momslave's friend, call's me grumpy. I don't think I'm grumpy. I am just trying to let the other dogs know that I am still the alpha and not to get into my face. I feel like I can get into theirs, but they can't get into mine! Momslave does not like that when I do that, so she slaps that muzzle thing on over my mouth.
Well, that's all the news for today folks. Momslave is going to have to go to work soon, and we won't be able to use the computer, as she shuts the door to the bedroom. We all tried at one time or another to open that darn door, but it just won't budge. Till next time, please come back and visit again.

Sunday 8-3-09 Pt Isabel

We got to go to the dog park today!  I told ya'll that we should have went yesterday, Saturday when it was 104 degrees! This pictures belies the weather as it was semi-cold. I guess for the slaves it was ok, but it was NOT that warm. Momslave said it was probably in the high 70's or low 80's. Well, it felt cold to us, and Jenna had her tail down at times, indicating that she was cold. But then she is a wus anyways. We had some friends join us today. Baree and Scout, Scout is the tri basenji that is on the table, Baree is the one closest to Jenna who is on the bench. Actually truth be told, and I always try and tell the truth, this photo was not taken today. But this is OUR picnic table and we always take it over, even if other people and dogs are there. We had another friend show up with her 2 basenji's also. Sanna and Rooti are both red and white. Sanna gets along with other dogs, but not with other basenjis. Go figure that one out will ya! So momslave had to let Sanna's slave Diane borrow one of our muzzles for Sanna. After that Sanna did ok, found out that she could not bite one of us (baseni's, but still she did some snarking). Dianeslave had to keep Rooti on a leash most of the time as he would wonder off and just start following other people. When momslave would call him, he came back, but Dianeslave got tired of the hassel (as she calls it) and put Rooti back on the leash.
We had a fun. There was a dog there that wanted to play, but he started running instead, & we all joined in in chasing him. The humans were laughing and kept yelling at all of us to run, run run. Which we did. The other dog finally gave up the run, so that ended the chase. But it was fun while it lasted.
This park also has a "sit and stay" cafe. Momslave had the 3 of us on our gentle leaders attached to the leash. That wasn't fun. There's food to be had! People had food on the tables, and we needed to get to those people so we could get to the food, but that's why momslave had us on the leash with the gentle leaders on. Said that we were not to grab other people's food. WHAT! Now that is so totally NOT fair.
I guess overall it was an ok day. Not too hot, a tad chilly (windy since we were right across from San Fran). Till next time, ya'all come back now, ya hear.

HOT boy is it HOT

This was really a messed up morning for momslave. First off, it is already hot outside at 7a.m. Think I heard her say it was almost 77 degrees. Something like that. We know's she going to work, cuz she has her binder thingie and frozen water bottle. She leaves us home alone. Thought she would leave the front door open with the security screen door locked, but say's no, its going to be too hot. We like sitting at the open door and stare at the kitties. It is hot already. But wait, what do we hear? Momslave is back! yea.......maybe we can go to the nice dog park. We gets all excited and start prancing and looking at our leashes, but nope, momslave say's her first student of the morning cancelled as she was sick. (see momslave is a driving instructor, whatever that is). Say's she still has to go to work, but just a tad bit later in the morning. The 3 of us run out to the backyard and back again trying to let her know we want to go to the park. Its a no go. She's gotta go to work. What for? She always (at least most of the time), come's home smelling like another dog! I mean really, if your a driving instructor, aren't you suppose to be in the car going places, and not smell like a dog? She told us that some of her student's have dogs, and their dogs smell us on her, so they have to come and sniff her and then their smell gets on her! We think that's rude!!  How dare she pet another dog when we are stuck at home in a house with NO air conditioning?  When the new's was on, we heard her tell sonslave that the temp today was 104 degrees!  YIKES. That's hot.
This picture was taken a few years ago in July when it got up to 114 degrees. Momslave could not figure out why we would choose to lay on the carpet, when the kitchen floor or even the garage floor was a whole lot cooler. Well, we're basenji's and are unpredictable and we do as we please. If we want to lay on the carpet, then we will lay on the carpet. This is me in the middle with a purple collar on. I got sprayed by a skunk a few months ago, and that collar was thrown away. I now have a nice red one. Jenna is in front of me and the ol grump, Dannii is behind me. Looks like he's going to try and goose me in the behind.

We're going to try and go to sleep now. Its still very hot and no breeze at all. Momslave say's its cooler outside than what it is on the inside. Go figure. If she wants to sleep outside, then she can go sleep outside. We prefer the bed thank you very much.

Honestly we do not bite, you can bribe us with any kind of treat and we will sit for you, well, Dannii sometime's he jumps up and starts his dancin' routine. Please come and visit us. Till next time, ya'll come back now, ya hear?

Momslave wants new furniture........yeah, right

Hi folks, its me Zak. Momslave just got home from work about a half hour ago. She's only letting us use the computer for a short time before she has to go to bed to start work in the morning.

Momslave would love to have new carpet. Can you guess why it will never happen?

"She lives with 3 Basenji's"!  This was my handiwork. Pretty good, if I do say so myself. It took a long time to chew up that much carpet.

Then she would also love to have some new furniture. Maybe a loveseat and a recliner. Can you guess why she will never get those either?

Because, she lives with 3 basenji's!  You should have known that by now.  You have to make due with what you have. I like comfort, and that chair just was not providing me with the comfort I was looking for. Now, its nice and comfy.
Momslave would also love to have one of the cats living back in the house! I don't think so.......even tho this is NOT Jenna, she would without a pause in her step, do that kitty bodily damage. As in kill it deader that a snake! She's just not too friendly with kitties. Me, I can take 'em or leave 'em, doesn't much matter. I like to get them to run, so I can chase them and grab them by their fur. But, I hate getting a mouthful of fur, and its dang hard to spit out.

We live in California, northern part....about 60 miles from San Francisco, whereever that is. I've never been there, but momslave says we are always right across the bay from San Fran when we go to the dog park at Pt. Isable. I like that park, its big and had lots of good smells. Lots of holes from grophers or moles, at least something that smell's like that. Momslave won't let us try and catch anything. Doesn't she know that is what we do? Basenji's are from Africa and are used for hunting. I like to try and hunt my food when I am given the chance, but nooooooo, she just makes me "leave it".  The picture of the 3 amegos are on one of the picnic tables, but it was cloudy that day or fog, whatever.......so you can't see San Fran in the back ground.

We sure wish someone, anyone, would leave us a comment, and let us know how we are doing. We just wanna be liked and have some kind of following. We see that Piper has got more followers than we do, but probably some of them is family, which is ok. We are trying to get our family to join and follow us too, but jeez every one is so busy nowadays. What is there to be busy about anyways? We sleep in the warm sunshine, we eat, and we play (sometimes, depends on who your asking) and then we eat. Then there is that other stuff than I am not mentioning. BTW, Jenna did poo on the carpet this morning. I saw her do it. Mom just cleaned it up when she woke up, and was not very happy with her royal highness......ha

Till next time, ya'll got come and visit us. We don't bite or bark. We may growl, but we're push over for treats.

Thursday, August 27, 2009

This is Jenna. I'm a girl basenji. Momslave call's me pretty girl (sometimes), and some not so nice name other
times. See, Zak and I don't get to sleep with momslave, we sleep with the sonslave. Only his highness (Dannii) gets to sleep with momslave.
Dannii say's its because he's been here the longest, and that there was another female living here at the time too. She was a black and white basenji girl named MzLilli. He let Lilli sleep with him and momslave, but after Lilli crossed over the rainbow bridge, he liked having the bed to himself. If he could, he would even get momslave out of the bed, and have it all to himself. As if that would ever happen.

Anyway, back to me. It's ALL about me.  See, I was what they call "re-homed". My previous owners didn't want me anymore after I did something terrible. I'm not going to tell you what it was, cuz momslave doesn't even know. Momslave has been threatening to find me a new home also, cuz she thinks I pee and poo on the carpet. Maybe I have, and maybe I haven't. The poos are small, so it could be the the cat. Even momslave has thought that a couple of times. But she also said that somtimes the poos are too big for the cat to do. I'm not telling anyone anything! I am the princess around here, and things should be as they should be. I love to sunbath out in the backyard. I just don't like doing my "duty" back there. Don't ask, and I'll tel no lies.

Dannii here folks, you can't believe all what Jenna tell's you. She is a real witch (with a capital B) in basenji skin. She can get right down and dirty with the rest of us.  Whenever Zak or I get within 2 feet of here, she start's with her growling and snarking cuz she think's we're invading her territory. Give me a break why don't cha?  I'm am the senior basenji here. I am almost 10 years old (in December), but I don't act like it. Yeah, I've slowed down some. But you get me out to the park, and if there are things there that interest me, such as chasing another dog, I am off like a shot in the dark. I greet the other dogs's and their slaves, course, I guess if they are not a basenji, then they have owner's and NOT slaves. Yep, there's a few dogs I will growl at, but that's as far as it goes, cuz then momslave slaps this thing over my mouth. She call's it a muzzle, and I don't like it one bit. She said that evertime I even curl my lip at another dog or heaven forbid, growl at another dog, she's gonna slap that thing over my mouth. Its not a pretty sight folks, believe me.
I have to admit that this blogging thing is real kool. We just hope that we can get a following. We're always up to something (no good, as momslave would say. I try not to get into too much trouble, I like to leave that to Zak and Jenna.  Zak is still a young whippersnapper, and I like to try and teach him a thing or too, but he's trying to get bossy! With me, who IS the boss! So then he wants to fight. I'm game, but then that darn Jenna, she takes on whoever is winning the fight, and will go after the underdog along with the dog who is winning. Sometimes, its me, and have to admit a few times it was Zak. He charged at me, once or twice, and I got caught in a corner, so then I not only have to fight off Zak, but Jenna as well. So you see what I mean by her being a witch with a capital B in basenji skin.
People, people, please don't believe all that doo-doo that Dannii is spouting off.  I don't like to fight, really I don't. I would much rather find stuff to chew and shred, and rip or whatever, and Dannii happen's to be in the way.....well, then he's got to watch out, doesn't he?  He only think's of himself as the boss, when we all know that I am the true boss around here. Somebody is in my chair, I will "pretend" to try and engatge them into playing, but as soon as they jump out of the chair, its mine, ALL mine. But then you know what happen's, one of them, mostly it will be Jenna, she will come back and do the same dang thing to me, just to get me out of my chair! I fall for everytime. When the heck will I ever learn?
Well, that's it for now folks. We hear momslave coming, and we need to sign off for now. Ya'll come back now Ya hear.

Wednesday, August 26, 2009

We are new to this blogging stuff, and momslave wasn't too sure that she wanted us to be using her computer. We told her that some of our basenji friends already have blogs of their own, so she relented. There are rulz that she says we have to follow, or she will delete our blog. Rulz? what rulz? We don't obey any stinkin rulz. We're basenji's for crying out loud. We have a mind of our own, and will do as we please, thank you very much.

My name is Zak, and I am mostly the trouble maker, but Jenna and Dannii get in their fair share also. There is this email list that momslave is on; and once a year that have a thing called The revels (whatever that is). But momslaves and dadslaves can send in pictures by email for different things. Every year, it goes back and forth between me and a friend name Digger. We vie for first place for Devastation. This year, I let Digger win, as he did a REAL good job of chewing up a recliner/chair. I had to admire him, he did a fantastic job! While I only came in second for chewing up a nice hole in the carpet. Momslave was NOT happy!  BTW, I did a recliner/chair a couple of years ago, and came in 1st place. Dannii got first place for Trouble (he got mud all over one side of his face). He's trying to tell everyone that it a "facial", but we know better. Jenna also came in first place for her Tricks and High Jinx. She gave sonslave (momslave's son) a high-five. I have to admit, it was pretty good.  That's not me folks, I am the trouble maker. I like to chew, knaw, swallow, rip, shred all kind of things.......and not in that order!  Sonslave once had a pair of very expensive jeans, and had only got to wear them twice, before I chewed out the whole butt (and nothing but the butt)!!  He was NOT happy. I thought he would like my handiwork, but nope. He has no sence of humor. I truly thought he was going to do me bodily harm. I showed him my teeth (I wasn't going to bite....honest), it was just to warn him, but he was MAD, and just kept coming at me. I stood my ground, lowered my head to let him know I was sorry (hehehe, yeah right), and he just bopped me on the head. He's a sore sport.

Well, untill next time folks............hope ya'll come back now, ya hear
